On the embankment I can spot a shrew.

Oh, and look, above her there is a colourful bird sitting on a tree root. A kingfisher! It is looking out for little fish.

Splash – a big fish has just surfaced right next to me. A trout! That gave me a fright! The dog has stopped drinking, too, and is watching. And even the goose and her goslings have stopped. My mother is calling, ‘Come to the shore, we’re going home!’

I obediently scramble up the embankment and follow my mother, waddling through the high grass. Suddenly, there is an animal with brown fur huddling in front of me. ‘I’m waiting for my mother,’ says the little hare.

Now the mole pops his head out of the molehill. ‘Hello duckling, what are you up to?’ he asks.

But I have no time to answer him. Mama is calling and I have to hurry on.
